ABOUT THE ARTIST
Michael Robinson, a native of Mitchell County, North Carolina, has lived in Asheville since 1991. In high school Michael was selected to attend the North Carolina Governor’s school in Art. He later received a Bachelor of Architecture from North Carolina State University School of Design, was a core student in photography at Penland School of Crafts, and received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Michael worked as an architect in Boston, Massachusetts, Providence, Rhode Island and Asheville for 34 years before deciding in 2015 to shift from part time painting and drawing to a full time endeavor.
“My goal as a landscape artist is to find ways to convey the unique sensory experience of being in a special place. The challenge is not to record every detail, but to look into the human experience of the moment and bring it to life.”
